Internship and Employment Report

Univeristy of Maryland School of Public Policy (SPP) students are extremely competitive for full-time employment opportunities in all areas of public policy including federal, state and local government, as well as international, nonprofit, and private sector organizations. Employers find SPP students attractive due to the academic rigor of our degree programs and our promotion of quality experiential learning opportunities.

Leveraging our proximity to Washington, D.C., the vast majority of SPP students graduate with at least two, if not three or more, completed internships during the course of their studies. Academic semester internships are typically part-time whereas summer internships are more likely to be full-time. Internships within nonprofit, community and governmental organizations are eligible for funding through the SPP Internship Program.  Roughly, 30-35 students each year benefit from this unique funding initiative.
