Jonas Siegel is a project manager and outreach director at the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland (CISSM). Siegel contributes to the center’s Nuclear Past, Present, and Future project, and currently leads an effort to develop minimum requirements for a comprehensive global nuclear material accounting system. He also helped to launch CISSM’s research into the relationship between moral and strategic approaches to global security policy challenges and is investigating media coverage of Iran’s nuclear program and the international response.

Siegel also leads CISSM’s efforts to reach out to policy makers, expert communities, and the public and to engage them in discussion about the center’s research interests and other relevant security policy questions. In this capacity, Siegel manages the CISSM Working Paper series; the weekly CISSM Forum seminar series; and related conferences, workshops, and events.

Prior to joining CISSM, Siegel was the editor of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. He earned his M.S. in journalism from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
