In January, Delegate Eric Luedtke, a student at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, was named Chair of the Maryland House Education Subcommittee.
In his new position, Luedtke will be the point person in the House on education issue and will be responsible for seeing bills through the legislative process, including developing amendments to bills and defending bills on the House floor while working with other legislators and stakeholders. A former teacher, Luedtke says he ran for office because of what he saw as a teacher in poverty-stricken areas.
The position was recently vacated by Delegate Anne Kaiser, who is also an adjunct lecturer for the School of Public Policy. Kaiser was appointed as the new chairwoman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
