Top 10 reasons to come to MSPP

The Policy Student Government Association, a student organization representing the interests of the student body at MSPP, came together to discuss the reasons we had for coming to the Maryland School of Public Policy.  This list showcases the unique aspects that set our school apart from others and makes it such a supportive environment for graduate level studies.

Top 10 reasons to come to MSPP

  1. Location, location, location (easy access to Washington , D.C., for internships, networking and social events)

  2. The unique opportunities at the school to examine public policy through different lenses (research centers, forums, lectures, etc.)

  3. The diverse range of experiences and backgrounds of classmates

  4. Access to alumni at all levels of government, both domestic and international, as well as the non-profit and corporate worlds, along with a strong career services center which offers additional employment and networking opportunities

  5. Faculty that are practitioners and leaders in their respective fields, and who provide a wealth of information, connections, and experience

  6. An active student community both inside and outside the School of Public Policy who take it upon themselves to organize interesting and relevant stuff to share with the entire school community

  7. Ability to take classes outside MSPP in other University departments, and through the Consortium

  8. Because MSPP is embedded in the University of Maryland, there's lots of activity right outside Van Munching Hall (employment, football games, cultural events, etc.)

  9. $0.75 coffee and $1.85 burritos at the Maryland Co-op

  10. It's better to be a turtle than to fear the turtle!
