Community Interpreter Program, International Rescue Committee

Hannah joined the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as a manager of its growing interpretation program in 2013. The IRC's office in Silver Spring, MD serves recently arrived refugees in Prince George’s County and Montgomery County. The IRC Community Interpreter program was built in response to this challenge and provides high quality, in person interpreters, whom they train from among their own former clients.  This provides refugees with a recognized training, hard skills and professional work experience in the U.S.  The program is cost saving, and is moving into an income generation phase by sending interpreters to work for outside agencies. Hannah manages 60+ interpreters who speak 30+ languages and provides approximately 400 hours of cost-saving interpretation per month.
